Das Feld (The Field) combines a reduced repertory of shapes using serial production and the extension and arrangement of surfaces by means of rows. Four thousand machine-made rotating disks sprinkled with yellow pigment and supported on thin steel rods created a field of 16 by 30 metres. This was developed with reference to the heavily damaged main auditorium of the Festspielhaus Hellerau in Dresden and was exhibited during the winter. The highest temperature inside the hall during the exhibition was around five degrees below zero. Das Feld can be seen as a monumental monochrome painting in space.
