The work is based on and was inspired by Lista’s distinctive history. The Norwegian Americans who went home to Lista two generations ago brought many things different from the consumer products available in Norway then. Furniture, kitchenware, clothes, and cars were distinctly American and were the first signs of the new consumer culture in the United States. Nowadays, consumer culture is globalised. The same mass-produced goods can now be purchased anywhere in the world. At the same time, the packaging industry has developed its technology and aesthetics. The formal richness of unfolded cardboard packaging has become an essential source of inspiration for Vestavinden.
